What is required to travel from state to state for an undocumented?

So my friend wants to travel to VidCon next year in 2012. I really want to know how could he go without any problems at the airports here in NYC and in California. What is required and if its possible for him to travel without a US passport or any other citizen/resident documents. He is 17 years of age and has been living here technically all his life. He was brought here at 4 months of age. Please HELP!! :)What is required to travel from state to state for an undocumented? He doesn't need a passport to travel. He just needs a valid, State-issued ID. The problem is, he may not be able to get a driver's license in the state where he lives. He'll have to look into getting one.
However, I generally advise not to use air travel for anybody who is out of status. The problem is, if he uses any international airports, Customs %26amp; Border Protection might be around and if he gets stopped for any reason (such as at a security checkpoint) and CBP comes by, they might cause him problems.
Sad situations like this are the reason we need the DREAM Act!What is required to travel from state to state for an undocumented? If he is still under 18 when traveling he will need a Notarized consent from parents if traveling without them along with a birth certificate. If not with a Drivers license he should be fine or a State ID. (it has to be a government issued ID. Not for travel but for general purpose he should look into getting some paper work. Maybe a Citizen can sponsor his residency, look into that. Good luck and enjoy the Vacation! What is required to travel from state to state for an undocumented? You do not need a passport or any 'papers' to travel within the continental US. When he goes to purchase the airline tickets they will ask for an ID, but a driver's license shoudl suffice. What is required to travel from state to state for an undocumented?
