Check what are the various places to see/ visit in the town from the internet.Get familiar with map reading and get the road map of the city you intend to visit.Check the location of your stay and keep it as close as possible to air / train / bus station. Plan your daily Program / sight seeing ,well in advance. If you choose a week holiday abroad, keep one day in the middle of the schedule for yourself. Know the best bargain market places in the city of your visit and also what are the famous items of specialities of the city.Do not forget to take a torch light with you. and also a pen knife. If you are suffering from ailement do take the required medicines in required amount. Do not stay out late in the night nor visit any place alone in the new city. Cultivate the habit of greeting any one on the local lingua.SESHADRI .
1. health and health related matters. that is taking care of food and to ensure required first

aid medicines, if necessary and to ensure that you are always fit and fine to enjoy the vacation.

by using most time saving and economical means of tpt and so on .

you will find them in all travel magazines and on the blogs related to travel. What are some of your key learnings from your travel experiences?Plan ahead. Planning ahead will save money on your plane ticket, hotel room, and car rental. You could also get concert and theater tickets at cheaper rates. Know where you want to go, and always have an alternate route planned if there is an accident on the freeway. Also know the neighborhoods which you will pass through, they could be dangerous. Bring lots of money, and trade money at the airport if needed. Also pay your export tax then, so that you don't have to worry about having enough money when you are ready to leave the country. Make a copy of your passport and carry that with you while leaving the original in the security box of the hotel where you are staying. Have fun and takes lots of pictures. Leave valuables on your person, if traveling with a group, and never let anyone get close to you (your POCKETS WILL BE PICKED:backpacks, pants pockets, suit cases, etc). What are some of your key learnings from your travel experiences?
Yes in addition to what you say, check on the local weather forecast and pack proper and only the necessary clothings. Unless you get clothes and trinkets cheaper abroad, don't buy them. Make a copy of your passport, visa and tickets and send it to a friend/relative for safe custody or if you can scan and send it to your own mail ID which you can open anywhere as an attachment.

Carry light baggages, pay attention to what you eat and drink, play safe, respect local laws, never discuss local politics with strangers or exchange your business cards with people you don't know. Bargain well with airlines for delayed flights and missed baggages!
Based on travel experiences of past , I am sharing my key learning points.

(1) Plan well in advance , but please donot plan too much , too meticulously . No doubt ,basics like date and mode of journey , place of stay , bookings etc. need to be pre-planned . But too much planning takes the fun away. If every tit bit is worked out with total precision in advance , we know what to expect and there is not much wonder and surprise. This can be anti-thesis of a fun-filled holiday.Certain things must remain unplanned and left to take shape as we get going.

(2)I know that the camera is vital ; but hold on , is it more important than our sight-seeing? In their eagerness to photograph everything , certain travellers remain too preoccupied in taking photos in stead of devouring the sense and sight . Their eyes remain glued to the camera eye and miss out on wonderful scenes that can never be seen again in life. Perhaps they prefer to see the photos at leisure than the real ones now.

(3)Enjoy together with friend and family not only the sights and sounds of travel but also the opportunity to move together by eating , walking , talking , singing , shouting, joking and even quarrelling . It will enhance the joy of travel.

(4)Talk to a few strangers during journey or at different locations. Its realy great. The other party will also appear eager to talk and share.

There are some more learning points which I shall share afterwards , time permitting.Happy Journey. What are some of your key learnings from your travel experiences?
by my personal experience, make sure NOT to wear belts or jewelry that have a lot of metal on them, it is ok to wear like a watch, a couple rings or something like that, but don't wear 4 earrings, 2 necklaces, 2 rings on each finger, etc...because A, the person(people) behind you will get frustrated, and the people manning the x-ray machines will get frustrated, and it just turns into one big ugly mess of frustration. also, wear shoes that are easy to take off AND put back on, just makes getting through security check point that much easier. arrive early, around an hour early, (maybe 2 if it is a busy time of year) because if you miss your plane, it can take hours if not days before you can get a new flight. Sharp objects are no good in airports, never will be, never have been, it's just not safe, even if you don't stab someone, somebody else might steal it from you, and then use it to stab someone, or better yet (sarcasm) hijack an airplane and create the next 9/11.

so, to recap

A) don't wear excessive metal, and wear shoes that are easy to take off and put back on

B) Arrive early, plan ahead, and make sure that you will be able to have at least 20 mins before you actually have to get on the plane.

C) don't bring anything sharp, airport security doesn't like it at all.
The planning part is very good to make a travel comfortable. But implementation of the plans should be selective, so as to make our alertness and awareness more 'available' to experience the place of visit. Most people just 'see' the places, and mention having visited them, and carry visual images in memory, or store captured images in celluloid or digital form. But they grossly miss the experience of the place! The experience of the place is the essence of travel. We should feel as if now we 'own that place' for ever, deep within ourselves. For this kind of experience to happen, we need lesser distractions(unnecessary luggage items, clothes, valuables, gadgets, undigested food in stomach, heavy fat content in storage areas of our body, worries in our mind, lack of sleep, disinterested co-travellers, etc). And then, a little bit of spirit of adventure would help us to explore unexpected potentials of the place of visit, and give our selves that unique surprise gift of amazement, to cherish, remember and 're-live' them at will for the rest of our lives. It would be a bonus, if we happen to make a difference in the lives of people living in the place of visit, sharing joy through our intense involvement in their concerns, however brief that may be. It is like leaving our fingerprints at the places of visit for ever, in the sands of time! The conclusive 'test' of our fruitful cumulative travels is that over a period of time, the urge, the need to travel gradually satiates like a hungry stomach feels satisfied after feasting on variety filled meal, and yet keeps feeling the heightened taste right from the pit of stomach in its belches(the best ever feed back that the tongue can have)!

my personal visit t malaysiya
planing for traveling:

*remember to check all your documents and tickets is the primary thing you need to do.

*check the itinerary of your travel

*check on the hotels you are put up

*the places you want to visit

*take local address / contact number of people whom you know( if you have any) or local embassy

*carry just enough cash for petty expenses

*check on the food available ( veg/non veg)... if you are not fussy ... you can try out the local food

*take a road map... you may find the same in the airport / hotel

*try to move out in local transport... this way you could get the real experience of the new place %26amp; the way the local people experience %26amp; avoid getting conned by the taxi drivers

*don't go to isolated places with the locals

* BE ALERT....!!!!!
I have learnt that nothing is in your control fully when you travel. Flights can be cancelled/delayed; the baggage may not turn up at destination; the airline forgot to mark 'vegetarian" on food preference; you miss your connecting flight and your transit accommodation given by airline is lousy; the on board food is lousy ... I could go on about things not in your control.

SO FIRST LESSON: LET GO! RELAX! DO NOT GET UPSET OR MOODY AND SPOIL YOUR EXPENSIVE TRIP . ACCEPT , MAKE FRIENDS WITH FELLOW PASSENGERS AND DO NOT LOOK AT THE TIME ANXIOUSLY . BE GLAD TO REACH IN ONE PIECE WHENEVER YOU DO

SECOND LESSON: STUDY PEOPLE AROUND YOU AT YOUR HOLIDAY DESTINATION, THE NATIVES AND LEARN ABOUT THEM ;RESPECT THEM; FIND OUT HOW THEY LIVE IN HARMONY WITH THEIR ENVIRONMENT, MAKE FRIENDS; VIEW AS A FELLOW HUMAN NOT AS A TOURIST

THIRD LESSON: OF COURSE, THE BASICS: ENOUGH MONEY AND MEDICINES AND APPROPRIATE CLOTHING AND APPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR ( try and get rid of that "I" am a tourist tab and try and blend)

Before you leave home just forget home and look forward to a holiday of unexpected fun. Do not follow a strict schedule. If you do, leave three/four hours "unplanned" every day .
1. Plan your trip much in advance and have all documentation ready to apply for your Visa. If you are travelling for a longer period of time, book only your Travel ticket to destination and return ticket from destination. Inner travel from one place to another could be done at the place of stay for there are many modes of transport, Rail, Road, Air etc. Hotel bookings can be done on the Net you get good deals and it is cheaper than going through a travel agent. Always check out the Net of the places of interest to the places you are to go. Never miss a Hop on Hop Off Tour if available as you see all the important places in your destination with a travel guide.

2. Travel light there are some items that can be purchased at the places you visit for example sweaters and jackets. always carry an extra airbag or a smaller trolley suitcase. Carry some sealed food packets as snacks and maybe a pickle bottle it helps.

3. Always take a room with a safe where you could keep your documents and carry only that much money as needed for the day.
1-Pack the clothes as per the climate of places.

2-Make sure your credit card wont dissappoint you.

3-Dont pack items which are available at that places tooo, as heavy to carry.

4-Make sure you are leaving home with proper safety and free from any tension.

5-Carry camera to catch the movements for long.

6-Be aware of terrorism activities in your routes.

7-Collect sufficient information about the places you are visiting.

8-Generate your own doubts and get it cleared with proper channells.

9-Ask the person who has already gone through out your routes.

10- Don't worry and be happy.
I usually check the places I am going to visit in g.maps . The means of transport also varies from country to country. If you are planning to visit Europe or US, you might have to help yourself in finding out the right means of transport. I have always prefer travelling in public transport as I get to meet more people. Most western countries have very good transport systems, but getting to know them is a bit tricky. Sometimes you might find a day pass is cheaper than getting individual ticket to every destination.
I like to travel more and more, to keep with you sharp object like swiss knife, put in your luggage , do not put in your hand bag or take with you, As a I am Vegetarian and pure Indian Gujarati Food habitat so I always take some food with me what ever I like more that Dry food take with me.

I always check that where ever I am going to get information about climate and weather chart , and some map of that place where I am going to visit . so I can decide with cloth are necessary to take with us, so time Hotel Booking and train booking is necessary.

Do not prefer to visit market area cause there is nothing to buy at any place , just make time to take visit a historic place and some known area meet different type people and know the culture of that place where we are going to visit.

always do not take unnecessary luggage with you, check your mobile with international Roaming is active. and take with you some Credit card and debit card. Do not take hard cash with you,do not wear more jewelery, in the journey Always wear loose cloth that should comfort to body. avoid to take key and some metallic items with you which are not necessary .keep with you pen and diary with are most needful.
nothing can substitue a good planning. Some of them I've learnt: Travel with less luggage, believe me makes is really easy and simple; Have all the important phone numbers / address like hotel, persons you know, so that it comes handy, while you need help. Dont over eat, if you are on long haul flights, plenty of fluids; its an opportunity to get on with some good conversation while on long haul flights, choose and appropriate topic, believe me time flies; dont travel alone in night in a new place, store all important documents money in locker if you are in hotel, be watchful on your food, as it can spoil your travel plans if your tummy goes for a toss; carry medicines, ensure that you tag your baggage uniquely with some identifier, so that its quite easy to pick up, while it comes in convey belts; last but not least, research - travel will be fun
dont travel without enough money unless u have a credit or debit card.

i try to keep my arbon footprint as low as possible so i travel very less and only when needed. and when i do travel i prefer the most green and cheap and feasible mode of transport avialable. luxury is not my topmost priority. i am prepared to cut down on luxury if the other mode os transport is less luxurious and even slow provided if its relatively less polluting.

plus i try to have a couple of plastic water bottles with me so i dont need to purchase it and i can save money and avoid uncessary purchase of plastic and increase my carbon footprint.

also i dont accept food from strangers while travelling.
1st thing 1st plan your holiday ,

2) dont carry lot of jewleries or metel

3) if its international holiday do chek your passport expiry (shouldent be less then 6 months of expiry )

4) mail a copy of your ticket and a copy of passport to your own id , so that in case of lost you can atleast have a copy

5) try to convert your currancy to us$ first and then to local currency when you reach the particular country

6) negociate rates every time every where , hey man its recesson time , customer is a king now

7) know the local culture and religion and belives .

so remember all these things and enjooooooooooy your vacation
hello,

The first thing u have to check is if ur passport is not expired and will cover an extra 2months in ur destination as well as ur visa..try to get local money before u leave ur country if possible...pack according to the weather and as less as possible since u can buy new ones..cameras,healthy snacks, ofcorse it is understood no water, juices since they tend to become heavy to carry...and some sudoko, magazines, hand held games...just remove the batteries before u enter the airport and such activities ...when u arrive at destination keep ur documents and valubles in asafe place where u can fill it,shut it and forget it...though its best if u carry some sort of photo id with you...also make copies of ur passport aand visa and leave them at home and one copy in ur suitcase...that's about it...i think laxmi
My past travel experiences learned me how to face different people of different origin with different culture and language. Shopping is another aspect wherein you go for traveling. There are so many things to say but the crux of which is go for vacation every year. U will make different frends on the way.
If you are travelling to a foreign country make sure to check your papers viz. passport, visa, air ticket, currency of the country (you can buy there also but exchange rate may vary and loss may result), at least 2-3 local contacts (street address, tel. no etc),little language background, local customs. This will make your travel comfortable and hassle free. Happy travelling.
i think one must not forget to take some digestion tablets, paracetmol ,Avomin and something to cure cold.also take few sweet and sour toffees along with you.Apart from this make sure you have cleaned your fridge and removed all food items and switched all the elctrical gadgets off except the home security(if you have one).tell a trusted neighbour about your departure and request them to care of our house...then leave for ur funfilled holidays and chilaxxxx!!!!!
first we ensure that windows r closed, gas is switched off, switch off electric main, check to carry passport%26amp;ticket,carry some native currency, currency of the visiting country.,stick indentification on luggages.avoid to be in hurry, betterto reach 3hrs before boarding time, avoid carrying banned things in luggage in the airport.avoid carrying heavy luggage
The main gain out of traveling to to get some idea about different types of people , customs , habits and of course different natural surroundings in hills , oceans and cities of this planet . We get to know more about people than what we read in books. I have traveled to Japan , USA etc, countries and now I know how is the Japanese and American people are . I know the true inside stories which you will not get in any book or website.
air travel has become such a big hassle that I would avoid it as much as possible. these airlines are putting so much of restriction of baggage weight, that I do not want to travel by air if possible that would save me lot of money. so I will travel to near by place and drive, take whatever I want, avoid security hassle also.
If you keep worrying all the time you will not be able to enjoy your holiday. From my experiences no matter whatever you plan, something or the other will definitely go wrong. So don't worry about anything and just enjoy each and every moment of your holiday. And one more thing...be a roman when you are in rome. Happy holidays!!!!!
Follow the instructions given in the Air/Ship/Train Ticket. Always try to gather info about the areas U R visiting. Keep all your valuables (Tickets/Passport.Jewellery/Money/Cards/… in a safe place. Lock-up your suitcase and be prepared to expect the unexpected. Try to organise your trip and enjoy your day/night.
Keep a Debit Card as it would help in emergencies. Carry Different Denomination Currency. At least a few dollars in small change.

Remember Not to convert your currency too many times as evry conversion and vice versa you have charges to pay.
well........ i had an marvalaos and hilarious experience........

i learned..........

airoplane---not to put on my belt----how much it feels when ur sides r being burned---not to oprn the exit window other than emergency-----

railway---anybody anytime can puke on u---- never eat the food given in train---- dont talk to straingers---dont rely on anybody....take the seat well before anybody comes--

car and bus--- never sit beside a person who fells to womit or who eats tobacco---do not shout.....

the end

i cant say more................
when i went to malaysia i learnt that if u have altitude problems you cannot

afford to have lack of sleep. it actually makes you sick! also if it is in dec make sure you

carry an umbrella also make sure you go to all the tourist attractions such as the malaysia eye etc...
