What is the cheapest way to travel from Tokyo to view Cherry Blossom at Hokkaido (Okayama airport am I right)?

I have already booked tickets to Tokyo from 11Apr-17Apr 2008 without knowing that Cherry Blossom festival is at Hokkaido.Any budget hotel to recommend at Hokkaido where I can easily travel to the exact location of the parade (do u know exact where is the parade location? Is it Tidal Basin?) as I suppose there's no way I can travel back to Tky on the same day? What is the cheapest way to travel from Tokyo to view Cherry Blossom at Hokkaido (Okayama airport am I right)?Ok, Hokkaido(北海道) is locates in North of Japan.

Tokyo is in Kanto region, which is the pretty much center of all Honshu island. Okayama is down south in Chugoku/Shikoku region. Hokkaido is the northern most island of Japan. I am thinking if you go to Japan around mid April, Sakura Zensen- Cherry bloosoms are in northern area. It probably ending in Tokyo area. If you really want to go to Hokkaido from Tokyo, you need to either fly there or take a long ride train. You need to study some website, such as Japan-guide.com before you go. Good luck! What is the cheapest way to travel from Tokyo to view Cherry Blossom at Hokkaido (Okayama airport am I right)?Hmmm? The cherry blossoms don't bloom in Hokkaido - Hakodate in fact - until mid May. Okayama is south of Kyoto. Sapporo is the airport in Hokkaido. Your dates would be at the ending period of the blossoms in Tokyo and Kyoto if it hasn't finished already due to bad weather or early bloom.

There's also this place Matsumae:

You need to look at a map of Japan.

Okayama is no where near Hokkaido, and no way near Tokyo.

The tidal basin is in Washington, DC USA, where the US National Cherry Blossom festival is held.

In Hokkaido the cherry blossoms (historically) bloom in early May.

In Tokyo (historically) the Cherry Blossoms bloom in late March.

Cherry blossom viewing in Japan is known as "hanami" there are many spots through out Japan to see them. If you get there at the right times to see them bloom.
