Is it safe for an infant to travel by air for 13hours?

We are planning to go to Asia for my sister's wedding, but I worry about bringing my 2-month old baby with me. Travel time by air is about 13hours. Is it safe?

Also, if it is, any recommendation for a hassle-free flight with a 2-month old baby will be very much appreciated. Is it safe for an infant to travel by air for 13hours?It is generally safe for an infant to travel.Usually babies and young children have trouble at take off and landing because their ears get blocked. It is a good idea to give them a dummy /pacifier or bottle while taking off and landing. When you book your flight make sure you request a seat where there is a Little bit more space. Most airlines will also provide you with a baby bassinet,so that your baby can lie in it while flying.Airlines will also heat your bottles etc.It is important to prepare everything in advance.Might be an idea to prepare a separate bag for your baby with bottles,nappies/dippers, change of clothes,dummy/pacifier.Also,try and keep to the routine you would keep at home regarding sleep times and feeds.Take some extra warm clothes or a blanket as it can be cold at times.I would also take some basic toys that they might play with i.e: rattle. Is it safe for an infant to travel by air for 13hours?I think it's ok for your 2 month old to fly but I would check with your air carrier since some won't let a baby on until he's 3 months. If you are going to have a long flight I would recommend leaving VERY late at night...and arriving late. When I came to China my flight was 16hours from Los Angeles and there was no one really on board so I had plently of room and no one to bother. I'm thinking of taking my little girl back to LA this year from Tianjin China and planning to take a late plane myself. Also you might want to ask them about "Gate Check" for your stroller or car seat (which ever you will not be using on board you check it at the gate and it's waiting at the gate when you land). I also heard that you can check 2 baby items that don't count against your luggage limits but I'm not sure about that. I would contact the airline to make sure. OH!!! and remember to take her shot records, a copy of her birth certificate, a current photo and finger prints...this is just to make sure they can identify her if anything happens. Also if you are not going with the father you need a notarized letter from the father approving travel outside the country. Is it safe for an infant to travel by air for 13hours?We took my daughter to Australia from the UK at two months....we had a 12 hour flight and then an 8 hour flight....she was fine. You book a thing called a "sky cot" which is a bassinet that fixes to the back of the seat in front of you....they sleep for most of it at that age and my baby was totally fine. We made sure she was drinking from a bottle as we took off and landed so her ears didnt pop...she yelled a bit though...but as soon as we were up sh was fine. We also made sure she had plenty of formula and clean bottles....ask for help if you need it...she should have her own hand luggage.....speak to the doctor about any imunizations she should have..we never had to but Asia is different to Australia....above all relax...a newborn baby doesnt know where it is! She could be in the middle of a nightclub as long as she has you, a clean nappy and something to eat she will be happy....have a good time!
