What is the farthest distance you can travel by public transportation?

I know that in Chicago you can take Metra trains to the border of Wisconsin and also to South Bend Indiana. That total distance is at least 80 miles. Are there any cities where you can travel farther than this via train or bus? I am not including Amtrak, just city and county mass transit. What is the farthest distance you can travel by public transportation?well this is for California

you can techinall get from san diego all the way to bay are expect for 10 mile gap to between chowchilla and merced (via the central valley)

GO Transit provides inter-municipal transit (commuter rail and bus) over a large area of southern Ontario. The longest possible trips (involving several transfers) would be over 200 km (for example: Beaverton-Niagara Falls 235 km, Newcastle-Waterloo 205 km).

Along the heavily populated corridor between Hamilton and Oshawa, the local transit systems connect with each other, so it's possible to go from Ancaster or Dundas (west of Hamilton) to Newcastle (east of Oshawa) entirely on local transit without taking GO (about 160 km). What is the farthest distance you can travel by public transportation? My guess is Newark, Delaware to Philadelphia to Trenton, NJ (SEPTA), then to NYC Penn Station (NJ Transit), Subway to Grand Central Terminal (MTA), then to New Haven, CT (Metro North) to New London, CT (Shoreline East), about 260 miles. All these transit companies link up with each other.

For a single ride, Montauk, NY to NYC Penn Station on LIRR is about 120 miles.

Montalvo to Oceanside CA on Metrolink is 145 miles.

To the first poster: Aren't some of those trips on Amtrak California? What is the farthest distance you can travel by public transportation?
The London to Aberdeen Megabus service is about 520 miles on the same vehicle, taking eleven hours. (Three journeys each day, each way)What is the farthest distance you can travel by public transportation?Metrolink (Los Angeles) covers a large area, all the way from Ventura to Oceanside.
