Cheapest way to travel between London and Manchester once a week?

I will be traveling between Manchester and London once a week for about 4 months and would like to get as many suggestions as possible of cheap ways to do this... other than hitchhiking, lol.



I'm relatively new to the UK so I'm not very familiar with all the different passes one can get for rail travel or what the best car rental in town is so any price examples are very much appreciated!
