How do I find the best travel booking site for open-date travelers?

My travel schedules are always open by at lease 30 days plus/minus. Sites such as expedia and other travel arrangement sites look only for your specified dates and come back with a certain result. What I need is a site which can search a wide range of dates and suggest the best price. They all rely on your asking a specific question and then you get a specific answer. What you really need is an old fashioned travel agent - but one which has a proper CRS (airline reservation system) or GDS (Global Distribution System). These days, as travel agents are a bit of a dying breed, such may be hard to find so if you do find one - look after them. A CRS equipped agent can look at things a different way, that is, start by looking at the lowest fare and then find the flights to match. You will have to pay a fee, but, given a) that you cannot do it (easily) on the net and b) It takes quite a while to do - I would not begrudge the agent their fee. If you try and be clever, take the information and then book on the 'net, next time they will probably tell you where to go!
